Miguel Torres
Graduate Counseling Intern
As I come closer to the end of my graduate program in Military and Veterans Counseling at The College of William & Mary, I realize how important it is to have someone to talk to when you feel like you have no answers. I will be there to guide you through your process.
I believe in helping individuals drop the barriers and find their purpose so they can thrive. I am a part-time (and longtime) yoga teacher who also believes that somatic movement and exercise are pivotal activities that can help people through a range of issues.
I have spent the last few months supporting active duty service members with various levels of depression, trauma, anxiety, stress, insomnia, and anger management. As a Marine veteran, it is a rewarding experience to provide service to those in uniform.
My toolkit consists of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), mindfulness and breathing exercises, self-compassion, parenting skills training, and suicide risk reduction.
I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey of self-discovery and growth.
I am currently seeing clients under the supervision of Lisa Maholchic, LCSW-C.
