Ashley Taylor
Counseling Intern
My goal as a clinical mental health counseling intern is to create a warm, inclusive space where clients of all ages feel seen, heard, and supported. I aim to build genuine, collaborative relationships that encourage healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. With a client-centered approach grounded in cultural humility, I strive to help individuals explore their emotions, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change. I enjoy incorporating nature-based practices, expressive arts, and mindfulness techniques to support emotional regulation and overall well-being.
My background includes graduate training in counseling with hands-on, experiential learning, as well as experience co-creating and facilitating therapy groups. Before entering the mental health field, I worked in community outreach through theater arts—an experience that continues to inform my creative expression and authentic presence in the therapy room. I draw from cognitive, humanistic, existential, and feminist frameworks to tailor support to each person’s unique needs and story.
I am currently earning a Master’s Degree in Counseling at Hood College. While seeing clients at Guiding Therapy I am working under supervision of Lisa Maholchic, LCSW-C.
